Benjamin Thomas Corp
UK

Hi-end Root Canal Treatment, Cosmetic Restoration and Dental Implants.

He arrived in India on 18th November and was brought to FHVK, straight away. Then the Dentistry Department, which is headed by Dr. P. Miglani, took over. On the same day his complete oral examination and investigative procedures including OPG and X-rays were done. The next day treatment started with a complete oral prophylaxis. The next step was to remove the burried roots and teeth, bone grafting and placement of immediate loading implants. After this there was single sitting Root Canal treatment on three of his teeth by the Endodontist. Then the cosmetic restoration was started. The Prosthodontist started crown preparations of fine teeth and placement of temporary crowns. Within three days the permanent crowns were fitted and he left for London on 26th November. He will be returning to India after three months for placement of final prostheris on his implants. He was extremely happy with the treatment he got here.

Mr. Benjamin Thomas Corp had a long list of procedures that needed urgent treatment: Implants-6 Nos, Crowns-14 Nos, Root Canal Treatment - 5 Nos but due to prohibitive costs in the UK, he was looking out for an alternative treatment destination.

Mr. Benjamin arrived at the Dental Centre of Fortis Flt. Lt. Rajan Dhall Hospital on 18th November 2006 straight from the Airport. Dr Pravesh Miglani, Head of the Centre, on the same day did his complete oral examination and investigative procedures including OPG and X-rays.

From next day onwards, his treatment started with complete oral prophylaxis, removal of the buried roots and teeth, bone grafting, placement of immediate loading implants. Then, there was single sitting Root Canal treatment on three of his teeth by the Endodontist besides Cosmetic restoration and fitting of permanent Crowns.

Mr Benjamin said while leaving the Dental Centre" I am very impressed by the quality of materials used." He flew back on 26th November 2006.

Mr Benjamin would be returning back to the Dental Centre after three months for placement of the final prosthesis on his Implants, all at the costs of 1/3rd that he would have paid back home.

Mr. Bill Schroeder

Age: 56 yrs
Country: California, USA
Laparoscopic Radical Prostectomy (Urology)

Mr. Bill Schroeder, a self-employed 56 yr old Californian without Health Insurance was diagnosed with elevated PSA Levels, suspected to having signs of Prostrate Cancer. He sought medical opinion from different surgeons in the US. Once diagnosis was confirmed, he went on a search for the best destination, keeping in mind the cost and quality. He came across the Fortis Flight Lieutenant Rajan Dhall Hospital , Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, where he found Dr. Rajesh Ahlawat - an expert in the field of Urology & Transplant. Impressed by the Hospital Infrastructure, backed by the qualified and experienced surgeon, Mr. Schroeder decided this is where he would go for his Laparoscopic Radical Prostectomy.

Bill Schroeder arrived in India on the 25 th October 2006. Having traveled alone, unaccompanied by any attendant, the hospital took care since he landed. "You have a full time nurse in your room, 24 hours a day. The Hospital and staff are all professional and the care I got was fantastic", said Mr. Schroeder.

Mr. Schroeder flew back home on 30 th November with fond memories and friends he made at the hospital.

Jaqualine Roberts (69) and Patricia Neal (67)
United Kingdom

When Jaqualine Roberts (69) and Patricia Neal (67), both sisters, decided to undergo cosmetic surgery together, little did they realize their dream would take them to India , thousands of miles away. Jacky wanted this surgery as her abdomen was scarred with three abdominal surgeries in last 25 years and Patricia readily agreed to be her companion in the whole process including getting operated along with. Their research for cost effective packages led them to India, when they read a story in 'Daily Mail' about a UK nurse, Anne Marie Jones, who traveled to Fortis Hospital, Mohali, in January 2006 and came back very happy with her Tummy Tuck surgery. Anne Marie strongly recommended Dr K M Kapoor , Senior Consultant and Head, Department of Cosmetic Surgery for this job and dispelled all their doubts about travel to India.

Both landed in Delhi on 6th November and headed straight to Agra to see the Taj Mahal. They reached Mohali on 9th November after the brief vacation. They underwent all the necessary tests and anesthesia evaluation on the same day. The sisters were originally scheduled for surgery on 10 th and 11 th respectively. But Patricia had different plans. She insisted that since they were doing everything together, both of them should be operated on the same day. It was a tough call but Dr K M Kapoor accepted this challenge. Jaqualine was operated on the morning of 10th November and Patricia in the afternoon. This is probably first time in the world that two sisters have undergone same cosmetic surgical procedure on the same day.

Post operatively, both recovered quickly and were on their feet with support on the very next day. After 5 days, both were discharged from the hospital. They are all praise for their doctor, nurses and supporting staff at Fortis Hospital , Mohali . "Never have we been treated so well at a hospital, anywhere in the world." says Jaqualine. "The services at FHM are exceptional. We were treated like royalty. So many people were at our beck and call," gushed Patricia.

Mr. Tamim Samee
Kabul, Afghanistan

President of an IT firm and an American Afghan based at Kabul, Mr. Tamim Samee came to Fortis Flt. Lt. Rajan Dhall Hospital to undergo a
Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernioplasty.

Operated upon by Dr. Paritosh. S. Gupta, Mr. Samee spent three days at the Hospital. At the end of his third day, Mr. Samee said "I am extremely pleased with the experience in Flt. Lt. Rajan Dhall Hospital. All services were prompt & of an international quality. I would definitely recommend this hospital to my family & friends".

Toqi Tahmid
Bangladesh

"I am the happiest mother in the world" gushed Razia Begum, mother of 3-month old Toqi Tahmid on July 31, 2006 at Fortis Flt. Lt. Rajan Dhall Hospital, Vasant Kunj. She and her husband had traveled from Dhaka, Bangladesh in search of a surgeon who could successfully perform the rare & complex surgery for a congenital heart defect suffered by her 3-month old baby boy.

Dr. T S Mahant, cardiothoracic surgeon, who operated on Toqi Tahmid on July 31, said "this is an extremely rare condition, about 1-2% of all children born with heart defects can have a problem so complicated. It was not just one malformation. The heart had failed to develop properly and unless such cases are operated early in life, the high pressure in the lungs can make them inoperable in the first six months of their lives". His team had separated the valves, some of which shared common tissue; used the tissues of the outer lining of the Heart. Dr. Mahant added that Toqi's chest X-ray and blood tests are normal and he was fit to be discharged soon and also the boy's parents could now be assured of his normal life-span and growth.

Ms. Razia Begum, a lecturer & her husband Mr. Shahajahan Choudhary, a businessman had consulted the best Cardiologists in Dhaka and they advised immediate surgery. They arrived in India in the second week of July and moved from one ICU to another in the hope that somebody would take their case till a doctor referred them to Fortis hospital, Vasant Kunj. After the operation, the boy had been on a ventilator for three days. The couple makes no mention of the cost of operation, it is too insignificant an amount for the life of their firstborn, their bundle of joy.

Tony Samantha Wildesh
United Kingdom

When a breast augmentation procedure that Tony Samantha Wildesh, a UK based model underwent at Prague, Czechoslovakia, went wrong, she thought her whole life had stopped. Calling it one of the worst decisions she had ever made, Tony was keen to persuade her peers not to go under the knife or have injections.

"With a bleeding, infected implant, I could have died of septicemia. Doctors back home in UK had to perform an emergency procedure to remove the implant from the right side, leaving me with one breast larger than the other." she remarks.

After going to many doctors all over, but with little assurance, Tony had just started to believe that her career had run aground when she was informed of the vast scope in cosmetic and corrective surgeries that India offers.

In search of health and beauty, she arrived at Fortis Hospital, Mohali in January, with skewed breasts. A corrective surgery by Dr. KM Kapoor, Senior Cosmetic Surgeon, did not only help her regain her shattered self-confidence, but also her career as a glamour model set soaring, post augmentation.

Back at Fortis Hospital, Mohali for another 'breast job', Tony's echoes the sentiments of many as she says "Everybody has the right to look and feel beautiful, and if it is only about a nip here and a tuck there, why not!" She didn't miss the opportunity to get Botox shots to smooth fine lines from her face at a Botox party organized at Fortis.

Tony calls Dr Kapoor her guardian angel. "FHM is a world-class hospital and Dr Kapoor is one of the best cosmetic surgeons I have met, and believe me I have met a number of them", she says.
Oozing with confidence, Tony adds that she would not hesitate to be back again for new cosmetic procedures, as and when the need be.

Mr. Warren Miller
Australia

Mr. Warren Miller already had one of his knees operated in Australia; however, he had to wait almost three years for his turn to come.

Mr. Miller wanted to get the other knee operated as well. For the knee operated here, he had a choice between Fortis Healthcare Ltd. and Hospitals in Thailand. The decision of choosing Fortis Healthcare Limited was made because of the orthopedic surgeon and the cost. Accompanied by his wife, Wendy Miller, they reached Fortis Hospital Noida even though their town was hit by "Cyclone Larry" on their day of departure.

After the operation Mr. Miller said "Dr. Ashok Rajgopal had done a marvelous job and I have little pain and excellent recovery. Within a week I'm planning a trip to see the Taj Mahal in Agra"

The Physiotherapist has speeded up my recovery. The resident doctors were regular in their visits and medicines were on time. Everyone was so friendly and helpful" he said. Mr Miller was amazed that within a week he was able to walk properly.

Mr. Charles Kaiser
United States of America

Mr. Charles Kaiser, a 62 year old retired professor from the United States of America underwent two neurosurgery procedures (Cervical Corpectomy & Fusion and Lumbar Posterior fusion-2 levels) on the 6th and 11th of January respectively. The procedures were performed by Dr. A. K. Singh, Director Neurosciences, Fortis Hospital, Noida.

Mr. Kaiser said “Doctors in Fortis are highly professional and were always reassuring. The Nurses, Physiotherapist and the Housekeeping people were extraordinary. Everybody goes a step out of their way and everything has an element of personal touch. Food was excellent and was available when ever it was asked for. This kind of personal care cannot be expected in USA".

We were quoted between US $ 85,000 to US $ 100,000 for the surgeries in the US and in Fortis Noida - including a round trip to Agra, Jaipur and Neemrana Fort - it was under US $ 12,000.

My pain has reduced substantially post surgery and Dr A K Singh has given me the reassurance that I could call him whenever I want to.

Overall, Fortis was outstanding in all ways…right from the welcome bouquet at the Airport to the warm sendoff. A real memorable experience to treasure.”

W. G. Ushani
Sri Lanka

I am from Sri Lanka, getting my treatment done under Dr. Upendra Kaul, the cardiologist. I came to India and got admitted in Fortis, Noida on 31st August, 2005. The facilities provided by the hospital are appreciable. Doctors, Nurses and other staff are very cordial in discharging their responsibilities and it is a real consolation for a patient like me who has come from a foreign country.

Special mention should be made of the Guest Relation Officer who impressed me very much with her friendly attitude. She was very prompt in providing the facilities I requested from her. Her superb communication skill will be an asset to this institution.

Dr. A Serebro
Omer Israel

My name is Dr. A Serebro of Omer Israel aged 69 years. After coming to India last week I tripped & fell which lead to Fracture of Femur (thigh-bone), accompanied by doctors I was transferred by an ambulance to a hospital where X Ray reveled the fracture. After as ECG, blood tests were taken & I was transferred to Fortis Hospital which is a modern hospital in Amritsar where further test to my heart & chest were under taken & I then underwent partial Hip replacement surgery under epidural anesthesia. The operation was performed by a most competent Orthopedic joint replacement Surgeon. I felt no pain during the operation & only a very slight discomfort after the surgery.

The staff & nurses treating me were most sympathetic & helpful in every way. Every request by me & my family was granted with warmth, love & affection.

I also had a series of treatment by specialty physiotherapist & a specialist dietician attended to my diet during the time I was in the hospital. My wife is qualified nurse & my daughter final year medical student who flew out to help me was also given the maximum help possible.

The cost of all above treatment & medication were most reasonable & I want to convey my appreciation for all the help given to me & my family.
